Q: What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaption of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?
It's a tough call for me because, generally, I like movie adaptions. even if they don't match the movie at all! I can separate the movie from the book and that usually means I enjoy both. I'm not sure I could do that with Divergent! It would be so hard to capture all the details in a good movie. I think it would be difficult for all the factions to be all represented correctly. If they did it correctly it would be sure to rank top 5 of my favorite movies, but if not... well... it would not be pretty!
While you're here don't forget to enter all the great giveaways listed on the right... especially the one I've provided below (INT) ;)
I'm embarassed to admit that I have not yet read Divergent! Though I do intend to read it right before Insurgent comes out. I expect I'm going to love it and will appreciate reading them in quick seccession. Thanks for sharing!
I haven't read that one yet but I've been wanting to. I've heard excellent things about it. While I love a good movie adaptation, I'm always nervous when one of my favorite books is made into a movie. I just want so badly for them to get it right!
I have to say it would be Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. I can't imagine anybody playing Tally/shay/zane/ David or any other character in the series. I was hesitant when they came out with Shays story but I liked it A LOT!. I also don't know how they'll get the uglies world, I can't really imagine it being created. I Thanks 4 sharing!I also agree with you about Divergent!
I can definitely see them doing Divergent as a movie; and I definitely will be worried about how they'd cast and how they'd do the different factions and settings.
I've seen a few different people saying that they would be nervous to see Divergent made into a film and I think they're right. I'd also be nervous about Shatter Me and definitely either Wither or Fever for sure.
Divergent is a great choice! I would love to see it made into a movie, and it could be a great one, but I would be really worried, because I loved and adored the book so much!
I can understand why Divergent would make you nervous. It is being made into a movie but I think if they put the same amount of effort that they put into The Hunger Games it will be fine.
I'm not sure of what but I have always thought that the movie in twilight never live up the book. also, I think the adaption movie for Divergent will never live up the story if there is any :)
I agree. I always go into a movie that is an adaptation knowing that I need to keep the book and movie separate. They can never be exactly the same, but they can both be enjoyable. As long as the feeling of each is the same, I'm usually happy. Here's my FF
I like movie versions of books- but I don't always love them. I was nervous every time I saw a HP movie, but they were usually pretty good (I just adore the books). I loved The Hunger Games and liked the movie a lot. Even if a movie version isn't the best- I still have my imagination. I like to think of the movie as another way to watch my favorite characters and stories. :)
True... the worst is when they choose someone you would NEVER have imagined as the actor/actress for your favorite characters! Thanks for stopping by Jess!
I still haven't read Divergent, but I'm planning on doing it soon! Most of the times I like movie versions, but I really have to seperate them. I LOVE Harry Potter, but if you compare them to the movies: they aren't so good. If you look at them seperate, the movies are quite good :p And I loved the Hunger Games. Maybe the movie even more than the book.

ReplyDeleteExactly!! :) You go into it thinking "PLEASE don't screw it up!"
DeleteGreat answer! I would especially worry about the jumps looking too hokey in a movie version.

I completely agree! Kind-of like all the die hard LOTR fans... they were so upset at the movie, while I liked it!

ReplyDeleteMaybe... I would be more upset with the details missing than I was with The Hunger Games

ReplyDeleteYeah the Twilight cut out a LOT of the story line (I haven't seen the last two so that could have changed)
DeleteI hadn't even thought of Divergent, b ut you're definitely right. How would they do that? Mhe.
ReplyDeletePatricia // My FF
They wouldn't be able to! ;)

True, I can separate them if I don't think of them as related... when I do they just fail.
DeleteHi. I picked Divergent to. Just not sure that a movie could live up to the book.

I'm with you, I try to consider a book and a movie as separate things. It's hard though, if you really love the book.

Good read it soon!! Yeah, if you separate them they are usually fine and ever really good!
DeleteYou are good! I have a hard time trying to appreciate the book and movie equally and apart from one another. I'm working on it though.
